About

The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious beast...

He's the man for the ladies, the tom for the queens.
Tugger is a cat that needs no introduction, everything he does represents who he is.

He loves to be in the center of attention and he is, every time he appears on stage. Every female cat is crazy about him as he's extremely attractive and likes to take advantage of the fact by flirting with many queens and kittens. Tugger's developed a fanclub amongst the female cats - Etcetera is a good example (she's the one that gives the longest scream during his singing in 'Rum Tum Tugger'), but there is one that seems to interest him more than the others - Bombalurina.

Despite his playful and careless prankster-type character, Tugger has a few friends - Mr. Mistoffelees and Munkustrap seem to be close to him. Tugger and Munkustrap sing together in 'Old Deuteronomy', Misto is introduced by Tugger in 'Mr. Mistoffelees', he also says the line: 'The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore', which doesn't seem to be a disapproval towards Tugger, but a type of statement saying 'I know him well enough'.

Tugger's physical appearance is based on a look of a Maine Coon cat. His body is black with leopard spots around his wrists and on his chest. A big lion-type mane is his trademark and he loves to show it off, making the queens crazy. Tugger also wears a silver belt around his waist and he likes to rest his hands on it and play with it making silly faces in the process. The mane and the belt however can be seen after the opening act, because all cats are to look similar at the very beginning of the show.

Rum Tum Tugger is a strong individual and he never stays too close to the Jellicle tribe. You can see him in the background most of the time, often close to Old Deuteronomy, but when he comes near the front of the stage or has a solo, he gets the attention only for himself and during his song it's either him or the other Jellicles singing the lines. His moves are very characteristic too, he's Elvis and Michael Jackson combined and he looks even better than the original performers. Though he's tough to handle and can be a bit too childish sometimes (he hates Grizabella till the end), Tugger's a true and loyal cat with a spark of excitement in his eye.
